2025 -26 Parent Drop-Off/Pick-Up Details
- Please do not use the bus loop in the front of the building during drop-off (7:45am – 8:25am) and/or pickup times (2:40pm – 3:25pm).
Door 6 to the school will be open at 7:45am M-F for drop-off.
Please see the attached updated traffic flow map for drop-off/pick-up at South. We adjusted the traffic lane for exiting through location 4. There will be a right-turn-only lane and a left-turn-only lane with the purpose of making the traffic flow quicker.
We thank you for your patience as we work through this process and make adjustments as needed. There will also be additional signage coming within the next few weeks.

After School Tutoring
Anchor Bay Middle School South will be offering after school tutoring with the purpose of helping students develop a deeper level of understanding on performance tasks/classwork in the following subject areas: Math, Science, ELA, Social Studies.
Tutoring sessions will be held EACH DAY Monday - Thursday starting the week of September 29th. Each session will be one hour in length from 3:15 PM – 4:15 PM in the Media Center. Transportation home will not be provided. Students are free to be picked-up in the front of the building anytime throughout the hour.

If your child is absent from school, please call us at 586-949-4510 before 10:00AM. If you get the voice mail message, use ext.2101
Reminders
- Remember to check grades on Parent Portal instead of Schoology. Parent Portal is the official place that grades are stored and updated.
- Thank you to all the parents who have dropped off and/or picked-up their child in the back of the school. The front of the building is for buses only in the AM & PM.
- We do have students with peanut allergies, and we ask that no shelled peanuts be brought into school. Food that is processed with peanuts is permitted. We ask that no actual peanut shells be brought into the building.
- If you drop your child off late to school, please call to the main office to let them know.
- We will be continuing our new lockdown protocol known as A.L.I.C.E this school year.
Medical Forms
Please contact the Middle School South office if your child needs to take medication during the day. Medication forms will be made available or can be found on the enrollment page.
Alternate Bus Info
To the Parents or Guardians of Anchor Bay Schools that use alternate locations for either pick up or drop off of your students due to daycare, grandparents or divorce situations, please complete the Alternate Bus form in the Parent Portal or fax (586-725-4223) or mail 51890 Washington, New Balt. 48047

Kindergarten parents are encouraged to join us for a Kindergarten Readiness Night. Staff will be on hand to answer questions and go through our annual Kindergarten Readiness presentations.
The window for Kindergarten registration and and Schools of Choice starts February 12th. Visit the Enrollment/SOC page for more information.
2026-2027 Unlimited Schools of Choice
Applications will be accepted for Schools of Choice from February 12, 2026 through September 3, 2026 at 3:30 p.m.
2026-2027 Schools of Choice is available for Kindergarten/Young Fives through 11th grade.
Placement at requested schools is dependent on class size and availability. The date for enrollment shall be no later than the end of the first week of school which is September 4, 2026.
The following documents are required to be submitted with your Schools of Choice Application:
- Statement of Prior Discipline Record
- Discipline report/print-out from former school for the previous two years
- Child’s current report card (high school students must also include current transcript)
- Child’s most current IEP if your child is presently receiving any special education programs or services
Please apply for Schools of Choice by completing the Enrollment Express Pre-Registration Link:
- Select Enrollment School as the Resident School and answer the Schools of Choice questions.
- When the pre-registration form is approved, you will receive an email with instructions to create an online Parent Portal Account.
- From the Parent Portal, the following enrollment forms must be competed:
- Student Demographics
- Previous Enrollment and Records Release
- Discipline Record
- 2026-2027 Out of District Schools of Choice Application
- If your Schools of Choice Application is approved, you will receive an email indicating your child’s placement.
- You will need to log back into the Parent Portal to complete the remainder of the enrollment forms.
- Your child’s enrollment is complete when all forms are completed and you have submitted the required documents:
- Birth Certificate
- Immunization Record
- Parent Photo ID
- Two (2) proofs of residency
- Hearing and Vision Screening (kindergarten and Young Fives only)
- Oral Health Assessment (kindergarten and Young Fives only)
Free Meals Program Continues Through the School Year

Great news!
The State of Michigan has approved a budget that continues to provide free breakfast and lunch for all students through the end of this school year.
We still encourage families to complete the Education Benefit Form if you haven’t done so already. Submitting this form helps our school district receive additional support and resources to benefit all students.
